WELFARE AND ASSISTANCE

5 Years in Action

Due to racism, gender-blind migration policies, a lack of family support, schooling for their children, a lack of medical care, cultural exclusion, legal, economic, and communication barriers, the Africa Ithemba Network recognizes that violence against injustice affects families of refugees and migrants in ways that compound their negative experiences.

It is billed as “welfare and assistance,” and it helps eligible families and individuals achieve self-sufficiency through work during their first six months in Cape Town. Clients receiving social assistance and aid receive monetary assistance as well as housing allowances for up to three months. English classes, cultural orientation, and work training are also provided to clients.

Our Plan

Every year, there are fewer available spots than there are qualifying clients. The Africa Ithemba Network consequently provides another funded program to help people find employment.

The Africa Ithemba network holds that securing the complete respect of human rights depends on providing families of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers with dignity, integrity, and privacy throughout the immigration, asylum, and integration processes.

The Africa Ithemba Network is aware of how crucial refugee family organizations in South Africa are to advancing the coordination of knowledge, instruction, and counseling.

The casework team will decide whether or not they can assist particular customers through a consultation procedure. This comprises aid in gaining access to essential services as well as a limited assistance program that offers direct assistance in emergencies and extraordinary instances. Home visits to our most vulnerable clients are part of our services.

Welfare recipients must exhibit a willingness to collaborate with the welfare team in order to assist change in their own living condition.
